Draft constitution within 2 months
TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran hopes the draft of the new constitution could be in place within the coming two months.
The party has fulfilled around 90 per cent of its obligations towards the constitutional process, he has told a central committee meeting of the ITAK in Vavuniya on 16 October.
The 21 parliamentary committees and the seven subcommittees too, have completed a considerable volume of their responsibilities, according to him.
These committees have refrained from announcing their decisions as certain sections could use them for their advantage and to create unnecessary problems for the country, said Sumanthiran.
The constitutional process includes the removal of executive powers of the president, devolution of powers and reforms to the electoral process, he added
