First global Tamil dialogue, with focus on Malaysia and Sri Lanka

AgeingSangam 4, the literary and cultural festival to be conducted here, will feature the first global Tamil dialogue, with focus on Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Fr. Jegath Gaspar Raj, founder, said that the Sangam 4, in its third edition, would be a 10-day festival, starting from August 12. Apart from the global Tamil dialogue, the festival would celebrate the 125{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of Bharathidasan and centenary of V. SP. Manickam and Thani Tamizh Iyakkam and launch of Research Institute of Tamilology. The other events include Mamadurai Marathon, Rural Olympics and a food festival.

Elaborating on the global Tamil dialogue, Fr. Gaspar said that events of August 20 would be dedicated to India-Malaysia friendship. It would host a meeting of entrepreneurs from the two countries to explore opportunities for joint ventures. The India-Malaysia Association for Friendship and Joint Initiatives would be launched on the occasion. As an expression of gratitude to Malaysia for promoting Tamil education for the past 200 years, an India-Malaysia Friendship Garden would be established at Nagamalai, Fr. Gaspar said. (The Hindu)
