Missing persons commission to hold sittings in Jaffna
The Presidential Commission on Missing Persons will hold sittings in the Jaffna District from 11 to 16 December 2015. The sittings will commence at 8.30 a.m. and be held in the DS Divisions of Nallur, Jaffna, Vadamarachci South West (Karaveddy), Vadamarachchi East (Maruthankerny), Vadamarachchi North (Point Pedro), Valikamam South West (Sandilipay), Valikamam West (Chankanai), Valikamam South (Uduvil), Valikamam North (Tellipalai) to inquire into 1815 complaints.
However in October, Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, announced the abolition of the commission. Families of Tamil the missing and those who disappeared after being detained held a protest in Jaffna on 05 December demanding details of the missing be released.
