CID files case against Raviraj Killing
The CID filed charges in courts against six people, including three navy personnel and three former LTTE cadres of the Karuna faction over the murder of the late Jaffna district MP Nadaraja Raviraj.
Raviraj was shot dead near his residence at Manning Town, Narahenpita in 2006 when his vehicle was being driven by him along Martha Road. The CID had recovered the tri-shaw and the weapon allegedly used in the killing of the former parliamentarian.
The CID has unearthed evidence that former Eastern Province Chief Minister Chandrakanthan alias Pilleyan too is linked to the murder of Raviraj. Charan, one of the six accused in the murder of Raviraj according to CID is a close ally of Pilleyan. Pilleyan is said to have given the weapon to Charan, which was used in the Raviraj killing.
