Nisha Biswal and Tom Malinowski in Sri Lanka

The US state Department said that US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Nisha Biswal and  Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labour Tom Malinowski is due in Sri Lanka on 25 August 2015 on a two day visit. They are to meet the Foreign Minister on 25 August 2015.

They are also to meet, the Prime Minister the President and other senior government officials, political party and civil society leaders, and the private sector in the spirit of partnership that Secretary Kerry highlighted during his May visit. Their visit is to focus on U.S.-Sri Lanka cooperation to further economic growth, strengthen good governance and democratic institutions, and promote reconciliation and justice. Meanwhile the new US ambassador to Sri Lanka Atul Keshap, presented his credentials to the President on 21 August 2015
