Ramaphosa to visit Sri Lanka to discuss TRC

reconciliation    South Africa’s special envoy for Sri Lanka Cyril Ramaphosa is to visit Sri Lanka to discuss how to move forward with Sri Lanka’s reconciliation process.

Ramaphosa’s visit to Sri Lanka will take place following a recent visit to South Africa by a Tamil National Alliance (TNA).

The TNA delegation headed by R. Sampanthan discussed the current political situation in the country and the failures in the reconciliation process.

Both parties have discussed a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), to which the Sri Lankan government has also expressed its willingness to pursue.

Ramaphosa is widely regarded as a future President of South Africa.

He will arrive in Sri Lanka to continue the dialogue with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and other UPFA leaders late next month or in early June.
