Sanath – Sandra file for divorce

    Mrs. Sandra Tania Rosemary de Silva (25),mother of 3 children  filed action against popular cricketer and Deputy Minister Mr.Sanath Jayasuriya at the Colombo district courts asking for a divorce.

She had stated that she wishes to separate from her husband who possesses assets to the value of over a billion and therefore claims compensation of 800 million as maintenance on behalf of her and her 3 children. She has further requested 2 motor vehicles for use by her children and also for renovation of  the house in which she lives.

Anoma Gunathilake, the attorney for Sandra Jayasuriya said action had been filed for malicious desertion in the district court of Colombo on October 23 and that Jayasuriya will be served notice and a hearing fixed thereafter.

Though a case was heard in courts regarding the two of them prior to this  was brought to a settlement, but has filed a fresh case.

Three children have been born through the marriage of Sanath and Sandra.

Sandra has claimed  compensation of Rs.800 million and and if  granted, it would be the biggest sum of compensation so given in divorce cases in Sri Lanka. A date has still not been fixed for  hearing of the case.
