Tamils Want To Live In A United, Undivided Country – Sampanthan

 Tamil people have given a clear verdict in an ‘unprecedented election victory in the political history’ of the island, Sampanthan said that “within the framework of a united, undivided country, the Tamil people want to live in security, safeguarding their self-respect and dignity with adequate self-rule to be able to fulfill their legitimate political, economic, social and cultural aspirations.”

The Tamil National Alliance – Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi – has achieved a resounding victory at the Northern Provincial Council election, winning nearly 80% of the seats in the Northern Province and nearly 90% of the seats in the Jaffna District. Such a verdict is unprecedented in the country’s political history.

The democratic verdict of the people is clear. Within the framework of a united, undivided country, they want to live in security, safeguarding their self respect and dignity with adequate self-rule, to be able to fulfll their legitimate political, economic, social and cultural aspirations.

The Tamil National Alliance is committed to the achievement of the above objective and expects that the Government would also extend its fullest cooperation to the achievement of the same. The results of this election offers everyone an opportunity which should be fully utilized in a positive manner.

The Tamil people of the Northern Province have, despite several trials and tribulations, even during the electoral process, pronounced their verdict clearly and courageously and we strongly urge that their democratic verdict should be respected.

We want to extend to our people our sincere thanks for the overwhelming support they have extended and want to assure them that we will spare no effort to ensure that they are able to fulfill their legitimate aspirations.

උතුරු ජනතාවගේ තීන්දුවට ගරු කළ යුතුයැයි දෙමළ ජාතික සන්ධනායෙහි නායක ආර් සම්බන්‍ධන් මහතා ඉල්ලා තිබේ. 13වැනි සංශෝධනයට අදාල සියළු බලතල හා අයිතිවාසිකම් උතුරු පළාත් සභාවටද ලබාදිය යුතුයැයි හෙතෙම අවධාරණය කර තිබේ. උතුරු ජනතාවගේ දේශපාලනික අභිලාෂයන් ඉටුකරදීමට පියවර ගත යුතු බවද හෙතෙම පවසා තිබේ. උතුරේ ජනතාවගේ දෛනික ජීවිතයතුල හමුදා මැදිහත්වීම් බහුලවී ඇති බවත් එය ඉවත්කිරීමට පියවරගත යුතු බවද හෙතෙම පෙන්වාදී තිබේ. දෙමළ ජනතාව දෙමළ ජාතික සන්ධානයට ජන්දය ලබාදී තිබෙන්නේ දෙමළ ජනතාවගේ දේශපාලනික ප්‍රශ්ණ ගැන රජය ක්‍රියාකරන ආකාරයද, හමුදා මැදිහත්වීම්වලට එරෙහිව බව හෙතෙම පවසා තිබේ.

උතුරේ ජනතාව බෙදුම්වාදය අනුමත කරන්නේ නැහැ, ස්වයං ගෞරවයකින් යුතුව එක්සත් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවක්තුල තම අභිලාෂයන් ඉටුකරගත යුතුයැයි ඔවුන් අපේක්‍ෂා කරති. බෙදුම්වාදය තුරන්කර තිබෙන අවස්ථාවක දෙමළ ජනතාවගේ දේශපාලනික අභිලාෂයන් ඉටුකරදීමට රජය පියවරගත යුතුය. තවඳුරටත් දෙමළ ජනතාව රැවටිය හැකියැයි රජය නොසිතිය යුතුයැයි හෙතෙම පෙන්වාදී තිබේ. ශ්‍රී ලංකා දෙමළ ජනතාවගේ ගැටළුවලට පමා නොකර විසඳුමක් ඉදිරිපත්කළ යුතුයැයි ඉන්දියාවද අපේක්‍ෂා කරන බව හෙතෙම පවසා තිබේ.
