US calls for independent and transparent investigations into electoral attacks
The United Sates Embassy noted the attacks on electoral candidate, Ananthi Sasitharan’s residence on 20 Sept.
The US embassy, in a statement issued yesterday, said,
“The attack should be transparently and independently investigated, and the perpetrators involved should be brought to justice swiftly. We call on all parties to refrain form violence and observe a peaceful, open and transparent electoral process- one that is free, fair and credible and allows for the full expression of voters to select democratically the representatives of their choice.”
