Navi Pillay’s security advisor here
The Chief Security Advisor to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay was in Sri Lanka ahead of the scheduled visit by Pillay to the country.
During his stay Abraham Mathai and his team visited the east and called on the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohan Amarasinghe this week and held cordial discussions on a range of topics which were of mutual interest, the Navy said today.
Mathai manages security operations of the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR ) world-wide and as a member of the senior management team, he participates in organising policy issues.
Previously, Mathai had a long list of appointments in the field of security, Chief of the Middle East Region at UN Department of Safety and Security at UN Headquarters in New York, Chief Security Advisor at UN International Independent Investigation Commission in Lebanon, Security Coordination Officer at Office of the UN Security Coordinator in New York, Country Security Advisor at United Nations, Iraq and Chief of Security at UN Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo.
