Kevin Rudd sworn in as Australian prime minister after overthrowing Gillard

      Kevin Rudd  re-assumed the leadership of the Australian Labor Party and became the Australian Prime Minister for the second time, three years after he was himself deposed by Julia Gillard and with a divided nation just months away from a federal election.Governor-General Quentin Bryce,  swore in Rudd in a brief ceremony at Government House in Canberra.

This is Rudd’s second time as Labor prime minister after he was overthrown by his then deputy Julia Gillard on June 24, 2010. Anthony Albanese will be Australia’s deputy prime minister.

The Australian labor government has been beset by  internal power struggles which have been played out in the polls and culminated in the ballot after the announcement Wednesday of the sudden retirement of two key independents Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor who both propped up the minority Gillard government through most major policy decisions.In the August 2010 election outcome, it was down to the Independents as to which major party could form a minority government, and two Independents eventually sided with Ms Gillard, the same two that announced their retirement today.

For a 150-seat House of Representatives, by definition at least 76 seats are required for an outright majority.The latest opinion poll showed Labor’s primary vote dropping to 29 percent compared with the Coalition at 48 percent, withelections due in September.

Australian business was scathing of the political instability and called on Rudd to abandon laws which strengthen trade union access to the workplace and which tighten rules for temporary skilled immigration.

Opposition Leader Tony Abbot has called on Rudd to call an election for early August to end the instability and to let voters decide who should be prime minister.

ඕස්ටේ‍්‍රලියාවේ නව අග‍්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයා ලෙස හිටපු අගමැති කෙවින් රඞ් යළි දිවුරුම් දී තිබෙනවා. ඕස්ටේ‍්‍රලියාවේ කම්කරු පක්ෂයේ නායකත්වය සම්බන්ධයෙන් එම පක්ෂ ව්‍යවස්ථාව අනුව සාමාජිකයන්ගේ ඡුන්ද විමසීමක් පැවැත්වුණා. එහිදී ඕස්ටේ‍්‍රලියානු අගමැතිනි ජූලියා ගිලාඞ් පරදා පක්ෂ නායකයා වශයෙන් හිටපු අගමැති කෙවින් රඞ් තේරී පත්වූ බවයි විදෙස් මාධ්‍ය වාර්තා කළේ. ඡුන්ද විමසීමෙන් පරාජයට පත්වීමත් සමග අගමැතිනි ජූලියා ගිලාඞ් සිය අග‍්‍රාමාත්‍ය ධුරයෙන් ඉල්ලා අස්වීමට තීරණය කළා. එම තීරණයත් සමග කම්කරු පක්ෂයේ නායකයා වශයෙන් තේරී පත්වූ කෙවින් රඞ් යළි ඕස්ටේ‍්‍රලියානු අග‍්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයා වශයෙන් දිවුරුම් දුන් බවයි විදෙස් මාධ්‍ය වාර්තාවල දැක්වෙන්නේ. මේ අතර ලබන සැප්තැම්බර් 14 වැනිදාට පෙර ඕස්ටේ‍්‍රලියාවේ මහ මැතිවරණයක් පැවැත්වීමට පියවර ගන්නා බව ඕස්ටේ‍්‍රලියානු නව අග‍්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයා වශයෙන් දිවුරුම් දීමෙන් අනතුරුව කෙවින් රඞ් පවසා ඇති බවද සඳහන්.
