Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena passes away

    United National Party Parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena has passed away .The Parliamentarian died in Singapore yesterday, while  under treatment in a hospital. Dr Jayawardena was 59 years of age.

Elected to parliament in 1994 representing the United National Party, Dr Jayawardena was strongly loyalty to the UNP.

Dr Jayalath Jayawardana had shown a keen interest in social service since his young days and has been a volunteer of the Sri Lanka Red Cross and several Non-Governmental Organizations during his University days.Dr Jayawardana is well known for speaking out in support of human rights issues.

He was elected to Parliament in 1994 and has been serving as a Parliamentarian since then He has held the cabinet portfolio of Minister of  Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees in the UNP regime which was in power in 2002, and is a medical doctor.  Dr Jayawardena was strongly loyalty to the UNP.

සිංගප්පූරුවේ පෞද්ගලික රෝහලක ප‍්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටි එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත‍්‍රී දොස්තර ජයලත් ජයවර්ධන මහතා ඊයේ රාත‍්‍රියේ අභාවප‍්‍රාප්ත වී ඇත. ඒ මහතාගේ පෞද්ගලික ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරියා කියා සිටියේ, මන්ත්‍රීවරයා සැත්කමකට ලක්කරමින් සිටියදී මියගිය බවයි. දේහය අද උදෑසන දිවයිනට රැගෙන ඒමට බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවද ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.පසුගිය 11 වැනිදා හදිසියේ ඇති වූ හෘදයාබාධයකින් කොළඹ ඩර්ඩන්ස් රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කරනු ලැබූ එජාප ගම්පහ දිස්‍ත්‍රික් පාර්ලිමේන් මන්ත‍්‍රී වෛද්‍ය ජයලත් ජයවර්ධන මහතාගේ සෞඛ්‍ය තත්ත්වය අසාධ්‍ය වුයෙන් ඔහුව සිංගප්පූරුවේ රෝහලකට ඇතුලත් කරනු ලැබිය.
