Indo-Sri Lanka Cross-border Cannabis Smuggling Racket

Cannabis arrest   The Sri Lanka Navy detected an Indo-Sri Lanka cross-border cannabis smuggling racket and arrested 04 Indians and two  Sri Lankans with  100 kilograms of “Kerala Ganja”. The arrest was made by Sri Lanka Naval Ship Udara attached to the Northern Naval Command in the seas off Kachchatheevu.

Navy boat Udara on routine patrol had detected an Indian dhow moving suspiciously north-east of the Kachchatheevu Island and, upon investigation had found 04 bags of cannabis hidden inside. Following the revelation made by the Indians onboard the GPS-fitted dhow of their plan to arrive at a pre-determined location, the Navy arrested the two Sri Lankans who arrived in a fibre glass dinghy to collect the contraband.

The arrested persons along with the cannabis and the craft involved were handed over to Delft Police for further investigations.
