Jaffna Music Festival opens tomorrow
The season two of the Jaffana Music Festival (JMF) will come alive at the Jaffna Municipal grounds on 1st and 2nd March with the participation of hundreds of Sri Lankan and international artists. The festival will host a diverse array of music – including folk, contemporary and classical music.
The festival itself will be a celebration of the unique and fascinating history, heritage, diversity and talent that Sri Lanka has to offer.
International music groups from Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Norway and Palestine will be the top attraction of the JMF.Sri Lankan music groups such as Naadro, Ranwala Brigade, Ravibandu Vidyapathi Drum Ensemble, Sapthami, The Musicmatters Collective are billed to perform at this years JMF.
In addition, there will be Music Workshops, Sound Engineering Workshops, Pre-Festival Group Empowerment Programmes and Traditional Arts and Crafts both in the lead-up to, and at the festival, according to the organizers.
Local and international artists will perform from 9: 00 a.m. – 12:00noon, Friday to Saturday while main stage performances will be held daily from 5:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Admission is free.
