Justice Wigneswaran was delivering the keynote address at the Hindu Research Conference held at Nallur Thurka Manimadapam on Friday 31 July. The Conference was held under the patronage of All Ceylon Hindu Congress to mark its Diamond Jubilee celebration.
Chief Minister of the Northern Province Justice Wigneswaran appealed to scholars to establish authentic impartial archaeological evidence on the antiquity of Hinduism in the country. This is an urgent task in the context in which mischievous moves are afoot to falsify history.
Justice Wigneswaran suggested that new laws must be enacted on the lines of special laws on Buddha Sasana. Such Hindu laws based on Hindu Thoughts and Practice can be be justiceable in respect of Hindu affairs.
He also stated that the service rendered by All Ceylon Hindu Congress to the Hindu community is commendable. They have to their credit several publications on Hinduism. The Siva Thondar Ani formed by the ACHC serves the Hindu community to build up a group of dedicated and committed young men to serve the Hindu Community. Furthermore, the residential Saiva Vithakar Payithchi provided by the ACHC goes a long way in enhancing the knowledge of Hinduism among them. Hindu public must extend fullest support to ACHC to make their efforts a success.
