Northern Province council member Ananthy Sasitharan has said that she has decided to speak directly with the President about those who surrendered and then disappeared during the conflict and wants the next of kin to submit all relevant information along with any related documents to her.
She said that she plans to meet President Maithripala Sirisena and the Head of the Presidential Commission next week.
She has requested details of those who surrendered including the place of surrender, place held, the last seen place and time along with their photographs.
She is to hand over the documents received to the Presidential commission on disappeared persons.
However, in an interview with a English newspaper the Northern Provincial Councillor Ananthi Sasitharan has said that she still does not have confidence in the Mathripala’s Government.
Expressing her opinion about the recent visit to Jaffna by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, she said that C.V. Wigneswaran is a Chief Minister, who has been elected by the Tamil majority and during the Prime Minister’s visit to Jaffna, Ranil Wickremasinghe should have met Wigneswaran, but unfortunately it did not happen.
She said that she still has no faith in the new Government does not intend resolving the major issues faced by the Sri Lankan Tamils. The New Government has not sorted out any issues faced by the Tamils and it has not resolved any of the issues which it had promised to fulfill to uplift the livelihood of the Tamil Community in Sri Lanka.
