Indian External Affairs Ministry official in charge of Sri Lankan affairs, Suchitra Durai Swaminathan, visited Jaffna on Friday and met the North Chief Minister Mr C V Wigneswaran Northern Province Governor Major General (Retd) GA Chandrasiri and had discussions on the ongoing Indian housing project for the displaced in the north.
She handed over seven houses built with India’s assistance to beneficiaries at a ceremony on Friday. The houses are in Kattuwan and Kurumbasity in Thellipalai.
Durai is in Sri Lanka to attend talks scheduled to take place on Monday between Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen associations. V.Mahalingam India’s Consular official in the North was also present.
