LLRC is not adequate to address accountability and progress against commitments is inadequate

swire   Minister of State at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Hugo Swire, in a Question and Answer session on Sri Lanka via Twitter yesterday (24), said that the “Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission is not adequate to address accountability issues over the war.”

Minister Mr Hugo Swire said on 3 March, at the UN Human Rights Council,  that the UK would be calling for an international investigation following the UN High Commissioner’s February report which said that the Government of Sri Lanka has ‘failed to ensure independent and credible investigations into past violations of international humanitarian and human rights law’ on both sides during the civil war.
