The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) adopted a resolution denouncing the Presidential Commission to Probe Disappearances and supporting the US-sponsored resolution on Sri Lanka to be presented at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) sessions in Geneva this month.
The resolution was adopted at a special meeting of the TNA in Jaffna. Parliamentarians and provincial councilors representing the North and East attended the meeting.
TNA Leader, R. Sampanthan had announced the resolution denouncing the Presidential Commission saying it was not going to address the grievances of the people who have been searching for their loved ones. The TNA has also decided to attend the UNHRC sessions in Geneva.
TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran said that a TNA delegation will leave for Geneva on the second or third week of March to participate in the Council session and extend support to the US backed resolution.
