The Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake addressing troops at Army Headquarters paid tribute to the untiring contribution, being rendered by all ranks for development of the country in the aftermath of the critical humanitarian operations. He stressed to troops the importance of maintaining the highest levels of discipline among all ranks and in safeguarding the reputation of the organization at all times.
The address commenced after the observance of a one-minute silence in memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice.
The Army Commander said that a restructuring process is now underway to promote professional knowledge with technological innovations among all ranks by improving the infrastructure facilities at island-wide Army training institutes. The Commander spelt out the measures that have been taken in the past four years in the best interests of all ranks by way of a number of welfare projects. He also spoke on the role played by members of the Army in the past by sacrificing their life and limbs in the fearless commitment to the service.
