The Ministry of External Affairs informed that President Mahinda Rajapakse will participate in the General Assembly Sessions of the United Nations which will start during the weekend in New York. They said that the G-15 Group countries will also attend the General Assembly Sessions.
A special group of representatives including the Minister of External Affairs Professor G L Peiris, the Sri Lanka Permanent Representative in the UN will also attend the Sessions. The Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Karunathilaka Amunugama said that during the Sessions Minister Professor G L Peiris expects to hold discussions with several Foreign Ministers, including the Foreign Ministers of SAARC countries who will be attending the Sessions. These Foreign Ministers will be enlightened about the Commonwealth Heads of State Summit and other related Meetings to be held in Colombo.(SLBC)
