TNA consistently requested the government to take action to “genuinely implement” the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) resolution on “Promoting reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka.
They also emphasized that and to reverse the latter’s current actions pertaining to the land issues in the North and East, which was looming problem. Because, land grabbing in those areas happening in big way.
“Two statements were made on the floor of the House on April 09, 2013 by the Leader of the Opposition and the Minister of External Affairs, pertaining to the resolution No: A/HRC/22/L.1 on ‘Promoting Reconciliation and Accountability in Sri Lanka’ adopted by the Human Rights Council.
Meanwhile the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ashok K.Kantha informed Tamil National Alliance that India fail to achieve victor on granting proper solution to problems faced Tamils in Sri Lanka. This was said by him when the TNA delegates honored Indian high commissioner at Hotel Galadari, Colombo last evening wehere he has been appointed as the Secretary for East Asian Affairs at the Indian Foreign Ministry.
Head of the TNA R.Sambanthan and several other party members were also present at this meeting. The TNA leader said Tamils, own the right to enjoy the basic rights in this country. We are an ancient people and India should take necessary steps to solve problems in humanitarian manner. TNA MP Mawai Senadhiraja said that the Indian high commissioner promised to establish a peaceful surrounding in this island.
