Sri Lanka’s Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe who is on a two-day official visit on an invitation of the Indian government, met Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and BJP leader L.K Advani.
He is also to meet with the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, and representatives of the Indian government opposition and Indian businessmen who have direct business links with Sri Lanka.
Wickremasinghe is the first high level Sri Lankan political leader visiting New Delhi after India voted for the resolution against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
His visit takes place at a time when the relations between the two countries have reached a low point and the pro-Eelam Tamil political parties in Tamil Nadu are trying to bring down the Indian government over the ethnic issue in Sri Lanka.
The Opposition Leader is to return to the island on Thursday.
Opposition Leader of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremasinghe is to visit the North following his visit to India to educate the people in the North about the policies of the main opposition United National Party (UNP) from April 24th till the 27th and will hold special meetings with the youth in the North.
The party members are to visit Vavuniya, Mannar and Kilinochchi districts in the Northern Province.
