Commonwealth Secretary General reviews CHOGM preparations

Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Monday afternoon at Temple Trees and held discussions with the President. The discussion focused on the Sri Lankan government’s ongoing preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that is to take place in November of this year, President’s media unit said.

Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma who met task force Chairmen and External Ministry officials today in Colombo confirmed the location of the summit as Colombo and reviewed the ongoing preparations for the holding of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), official said.

External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunathilaka Amunugama told the media that the meeting with the Ministry officials lasted for more than 90 minutes and heads of some 15 task forces and other officials attended the meeting.

However Richard Uku, Official Spokesperson and Director of Communications and Public Affairs said. Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma has not made any statements with regard to Sri Lanka as host venue of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November 2013, and that there will be a statement at the end of the Secretary-General’s visit to Sri Lanka on Wednesday, 13 February he said.

පොදුරාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩල මහා ලේකම් කාර්ය සාධක බලකා නිලධාරීන් හා විදේශ කටුයුතු අමාත්‍යන්ශ නිලධාරීන් හමුවී සාකච්ඡ කර ඇත.
